Visit the help centerIs FindMechanic really free?
Yes. Creating an account, posting jobs, sending bids, and messaging are free. FindMechanic charges no platform fee, subscription, or commission. Repair costs are agreed and paid directly between the driver and mechanic.
Do I need an account to browse jobs?
No. Anyone can browse public jobs and mechanic profiles. Create an email and password account when you want to post, bid, or communicate. There is no Google or Facebook sign-in.
How do I choose a mechanic?
Compare their quote, specialties, experience, and reviews from completed FindMechanic jobs. Ask about parts, timing, qualifications, and any warranty in your private conversation before accepting a bid. Profile details are supplied by the mechanic; we do not claim independent verification.
Can the mechanic come to me?
Choose mobile service when posting your job, or leave the service type flexible. Mechanics show whether they offer mobile repairs, shop repairs, or both. Confirm the exact work location privately.
What happens after I accept a bid?
Your job becomes a shared workspace. Propose an appointment, confirm the time, and keep in touch. The mechanic starts the job and requests completion. You confirm the work and can leave a review.
How are payments handled?
You and your mechanic agree on repair costs and a payment method directly. FindMechanic does not collect repair payments, hold deposits, or provide escrow. Clarify what is included in the quote before work starts.
